Whatever the care taken and the precision applied during work of micronization, powder may be needed of particularly tight, or of particularly precise, particle size distribution.
Powders are divided into particle-size cuts as far as it is possible by sieving system that are effective to about 200 microns. To surpass this figures, dynamic classification systems are usually employed to produce precise particle-size cuts when working on very fine powders.

Septu Dynamic Classifiers are available in five sizes suited to the Company's micronizers: Nominal gas flow rated from 500m3/h to 12000m3/h.
Powder flow rate from 100 Kg/h to 1000 Kg/h Cut points adjustable from 5u to 150u.
Principle of Operation: -
The gas carrying the powder enters the selection chamber at high speed.
Additional gas enters through a tangential inlet and spins the particles, imparting high centrifugal force to them.
The larger particles are separated and fall into a oversize hopper, passing through a deflector cone where gas turbulence prevents them agglomerating or sticking.
The medium and fine sizes are separated in the selection chamber by a "squirrel cage" bladed rotor driven by an electric motor. The fine particles are carried away by the gas leaving the machine and are later collected in a filter, while the medium sized are discharged to the deflector cone and the oversize hopper. The systems of regulating the additional air input and the rotor speed set the aerodynamic and mechanical forces acting on the powder, and enable total control of the cut in relation to operating conditions.
